Swim Ireland is delighted to announce its exciting NEW National Open Water Series for 2025. The 2025 Series will incorporate a wide range of open water events all over the country with events catering for every level of open water swimmer.
We are pleased to be working with several of our clubs to develop an inclusive national series which has multiple event types from mass starts, race events, participation, handicapped and regional/national championships. The series also features two of the most iconic events with the Dún Laoghaire Harbour and Dublin City Liffey Swim, as well as the Swim Ireland National Championships the jewels on the calendar. All open water events listed on the calendar will act as qualifiers for these events. More information on qualification can be found on the open water page of the Swim Ireland website.
Swim Ireland Head of Competition, Events and Disciplines Adam Cox said “It has been a few years in the making, but it is really exciting to see the 2025 series come together. The support from our clubs and members has been tremendous and to be able to develop a national calendar is really developing and uniting the sport. With a mixture of distances and events types the series is unique and exciting and ensures it caters for every level of swimmer. We are working with several other clubs and will be announcing more dates and locations soon. As part of the wider open water work being undertaken, we are working on developing an overall long-term strategy for the sport and developing several key areas. We are currently reviewing our race sanctioning process and working closely with Triathlon Ireland to align on this process. We will also be delivering our successful open water participation programmes and open water clubs pathway training programme over late spring and into summer. With lots going on in this sport, it really is going to be an exciting year for open water swimming.
