There were a number of standout performances, including a sensational world record set by London 2012 Olympian Barry Murphy, as well as Norma Cahill tearing up the European Masters record books on three occasions.

Barry Murphy, donning the Guinness SC cap, blazed through the pool in 28.57 to set a new world record in the 50m breaststroke (40-44 age group). Murphy broke the previous record of 28.84, which had stood since 2009, a result that earned him the Jim Neylon Trophy.

Norma Cahill of Ennis Masters SC had a number of standout performances over the weekend in Limerick. Cahill posted 19:59.63 to set a new European Masters record in the 1500m freestyle in the 60-64 age group. The Ennis swimmer was awarded the Kearney Cup for her performance. Cahill was not finished there, setting new European Masters records on two more occasions—first in the 800m freestyle with a time of 10:33.03 to break the record, then further lowering it with a time of 10:29.42.
