On the 1st November, Swim Ireland will present our Annual Awards Night celebration event, honouring the fantastic work and the accomplishments of our athletes, coaches and volunteers throughout the year.

All members of the aquatic community will be invited to purchase tickets at a cost of €60 by ordering your ticket(s) from Swim Ireland here.

We would encourage all clubs to vote for those hard working and dedicated Individuals they feel are most deserving of these awards. It may be someone in your own club or outside of your club, who you feel should be acknowledged for what they do to better the aquatic community. We look forward to seeing you all there on the night to help us celebrate the successes of the past year.

Eligibility

  • All nominees must have been members of Swim Ireland during the 2024/25 Season (October 2024– August 2025)
  • The nomination must be based on accomplishments between 01/09/24 and 30/09/2025. Accomplishments outside of this timeframe will be disregarded.
  • Nominations for Awards must be submitted by a member of an affiliated Swim Ireland Club/Member. Clubs may nominate other clubs and other Swim Ireland members outside of their club. Clubs may also nominate their own club and club members.

Submission Requirements

  • A fully completed nomination form (typed). Nominations must be at least 200 words. Nominations under 200 words will be disregarded.
  • Written outline of your nominees’ accomplishments. Please give a detailed reason as to why your nominee deserves the award.
  • A digital photograph of the nominee.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Friday, 19th September 2025 at 1pm.

National Club of the Year

Nominations are invited from the Swim Ireland Membership for Aquatic Clubs that have developed an environment where athletes and volunteers may enjoy and succeed in their chosen aquatic discipline. Nomination may include the following from what is a non-exhaustive list of attributes:

  • Achievements within the club e.g. competition results (at all levels)
  • Increased/Sustained participation rates in 2024/25
  • Education and Training – of volunteers, teachers, coaches, athletes
  • Demonstrated fair play and a good sporting attitude throughout the year
  • Community and member engagement
  • New exciting initiative to engage the membership

Volunteer of the Year 

(1 for each 4 regions)

Nominations are invited for volunteers at Club/Regional/National level who have shown true dedication in fulfilling essential roles, in the background that support the smooth functioning of clubs. Nominations should include reference to the following –

  • Evidence of impact on their Club/Region/National
  • Evidence of their impact on their chosen area (e.g. officiating, team management etc…)
  • Evidence of commitment to their Aquatic disciplines development e.g. length of service
  • Evidence of team working and supporting others

Disability Swimmer of the Year

  • Exceeded expectations in their swimming performances
  • Continued to uphold their part as an outstanding role model

Official of the Year

(Diving, Swimming & Water Polo)

Nominations are invited for officials at Club/Regional/National/International level who have shown commitment in developing and fulfilling in this essential role to support the smooth functioning of competitions at their chosen level. Nominations should include reference to the following –

  • Evidence of their impact on officiating
  • Evidence of commitment to their aquatic disciplines development
  • Evidence of team working and supporting others
  • Evidence of personal development and commitment to improving their knowledge

Club Coach of the Year

(All Disciplines)

Nominations are invited for coaches working within Irish clubs (Swimming, Water Polo, Diving, Masters and Open Water) who can display a wide range of qualities within their work and chosen discipline, which may include the following from what is a non-exhaustive list of attributes:

  • Consistently facilitating strong results from within their club at Regional and National level
  • Support relevant Programme and other initiatives within their Region and Nationally
  • Can evidence the coach’s role in club growth & exemplary club culture
  • Supporting evidence of expansive best practice within their coaching and their behaviours
  • Other similar attributes that can act as an inspiration to club coaching on the island

Outstanding Contribution Award

Nominations are invited for individuals who have made a considerable and outstanding contribution to the aquatics. The Award is selected by the Selection Committee and will be evaluated under one or more of the following criteria:

  • Outstanding contribution to promote and foster the cause of aquatics (swimming/diving/water polo/open water) in Ireland at Club or National level.
  • Outstanding contribution to the running and administration of the aquatics.
  • Many years continuous service showing a consistently high level of commitment to the aquatics.
