Open Water Programmes Officer (Temporary Summer Position)

Swim Ireland is the National Governing Body (NGB) for Swimming, Water Polo, Diving and associated Aquatic Disciplines on the island of Ireland.  Swim Ireland’s Head Office is based at Irish Sport HQ, National Sports Campus, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15 with circa 50 employees. Swim Ireland’s remit as a Governing Body is to increase participation, run the competitive aspect of our sport and to provide a framework for regulation. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Participation Team during the busy Open Water summer season 2023.

Role and Reporting Structure

The Open Water Programmes Officer will work under the direction of the Head of Participation and will support the delivery of the open water programmes and events.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Provide administrative support for the open water programmes and events.
  • Support the promotions of programmes and events.
  • Support the distribution of resources for the participants and the staff.
  • Deal with bookings and participant enquiries.
  • Support the management of the online booking system to ensure programme and events transactions are in accordance with the bookings.
  • Support the gathering of evaluations and monitoring data.
  • Prepare weekly reports on all aspects of the programme for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare an end of season report highlighting all aspects of the programmes and events.
  • Provide pre programme and event information to the staff and the participants.
  • Provide in person support for the open water events both in advance and on the day of the events.

 

Stakeholders

  • Support the development of links and working relationships with Local Authorities, Local Sports Partnerships, relevant Government agencies, swimming facilities, clubs, schools, and others as required.

 

Essential Requirements

  • Be eligible to work in Ireland on a full-time basis.
  • Excellent working knowledge of IT and software packages including MSOffice, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong industry knowledge of aquatics in particular open water swimming.

 

Education and Experience

  • passionate about providing opportunities for people to swim in the open water.
  • Relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Qualifications (Large scale Event Management experience would be an advantage).
  • Thorough industry knowledge

Remuneration and Location

  • The package will include a salary commensurate with qualifications and experience
  • Position Tenure: 3-4 month full-time contract, with immediate start
  • Position Location: Swim Ireland Head Office, Irish Sport HQ, Sport Ireland Campus, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15 however some level of hybrid/home working is permitted.

 

Appointment will be made subject to satisfactory:

  • Garda Vetting; and
  • Suitable reference checks.
