Earlier today Clare Cryan and Jake Passmore returned to the pool for the Mixed 3M Synchro Final. The duo scored a total of 249.12 to finish in twelfth place, their highest score of 60.48 coming from their fourth dive, a back two and a half somersaults.

Speaking at the conclusion of the Diving, National Head Coach Damian Ball said ‘The World Championships will always be a high-pressure environment and there was a lot more riding on this one because the final Olympic spots were up for grabs.

Our aim was for each diver to make the semi-finals and then challenge for the all-important place in the finals. Our preparation and lead into this competition was really good, and that’s what makes it hard to take, knowing that we leave with only one semi-final achieved in individual events.

It has been a challenging and emotional time here in Doha, but we must recognise the achievements of young Jake Passmore. He has done an amazing job, along with coach Marc Holdsworth, to improve his World Championships position by twenty-seven places compared to the Fukuoka championships 6 months ago, our fingers are crossed that this will be enough to gain a place at the Paris Games.’

Daily reports will issue from Doha.
